Tantallon House Bed and Breakfast, in Gilsland on the border of Cumbria and Northumberland, overlooks the longest unbroken stretch of Hadrian's Wall. We offer a peaceful getaway spot and an ideal gateway to the many places of interest in this area.

At Tantallon House, you will receive a warm welcome and we pride ourselves on doing everything we can to help you enjoy your stay and explore this beautiful part of the world.

Tantallon House's bed and breakfast rooms have been graded as 4 star with Silver Accolade.  All of our bed and breakfast rooms are comfortable and spacious and are furnished in a traditional Victorian style. The three south facing rooms have fantastic views and are all complete with widescreen televisions, WiFI internet as well as tea and coffee making facillities. Our rooms have either private or en-suite bathrooms.

Our hearty breakfasts are served at your convenience in the lounge or dining room. Local and fair trade produce is used where possible to ensure the best quality breakfast for our guests, and to help minimise our impact on the local environment.

After exploring the surrounding Hadrian's Wall areas of Cumbria and Northumberland, unwind in our guest lounge or relax in the garden overlooking Hadrian's Wall and then retire to your comfortable spacious rooms to rest.

For those looking for self catering accommodation there is Tantallon Cottage: self contained holiday accommodation which is light and spacious with a lounge containing French windows opening through to the private garden.

A path leading around to the front of Tantallon House enables guests staying in the cottage to sit and enjoy the fantastic views of the Irthing Valley, Hadrian’s Wall and the Pennines.

There is a bright kitchen, overlooking the garden and upstairs, a good sized bedroom, contains a luxurious king size bed (5’) and a 3’ single bed and a 2’6” single bed with wardrobe and dressing table. Visit our website by clicking on the link at the top of this page for more details.
